To Love & To Lead: Staff Discussions

From Your Pastor’s Heart ...

Sunday, July 30th, we ended an eight-year season in the life of Heritage.   It was the season with Chuck King.  At the end of the third service, I had the men from the worship arts ministry and from Chuck’s life-group gather around him as he sang his composition, The Priestly Blessing.  As Chuck finished the song and continued the arpeggio up the keyboard to hit that final note, two thoughts overwhelmed me:  1) This is really over.  I can’t believe it! and 2) I heard a word from the LORD to Chuck and Heritage, “Well done!”

We truly were blessed to have Chuck in our lives and as the Worship Arts Minister at Heritage.  He was a gift from the LORD to us.   His love for Jesus, his friendship, his pursuit of excellence, his honoring of the role of lead pastor, his love for both the latest contemporary worship music and the old traditional favorites; his world class skill in conducting, directing, writing, acting, and singing; his sharing of the Jewish roots of the Christian faith, his amazing creativity and his desire to see us reach the lost endeared him to me, our congregation, and so many within the River Valley.

As Chuck mentioned Sunday, he went through a very low period, and we walked with him through the process of restoration.  Since then, Chuck has brought to us many outstanding experiences in the LORD -- Passover for nearly 1000 at the Alma Arena, Scrooge, Narnia, Korczak’s Children, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, The Feast of Tabernacles, God With Us, wonderful Christmas Eve services, incredible Good Friday services, amazing Resurrection celebrations with Arrows International, The Christmas Miracle of Johnathan Toomey, and so much more.

As this chapter closes, the LORD says, “Well done, Chuck!   I have a new assignment for you!  Well done, Heritage!  I have good things ahead for you too!”  As your pastor, I could not be more proud and thankful for you!  I am thankful to the LORD for this past chapter and look forward with faith and great expectation for the next season the LORD has for us!

Love you,

Pastor Wes
