FUELING and SUSTAINING Revival and Spiritual Awakening

Posted on Jan 14, 2016 by Pastor Wes

There’s been a stirring deep inside me that something is not right at Heritage.   Many things are awesome, but God has been pointing me to something that is lacking.  It is not something many of us want in our lives, but as I look at what God has used since the days of Abraham and Moses, the New Testament Church, in St. Patrick’s day, and with the Evangelical Revival that transformed England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, and the United States in the 1700’s, there is a common denominator.  God has been pointing me to this for some time.  It is one of our two Wildly Important Goals for Heritage for 2016.

Want to know what it is?  Come hear about it this Sunday, January 10th in our three morning worship services!   It will be challenging, but I believe the blessings to your life and to the River Valley will far outstrip the effort it will require.   I’m asking all discipleship group leaders (Sunday School, Life-groups, Heritage U., ministry team) and those who THINK they might be called to be leaders to JOIN ME FOR LUNCH on Sunday, January 17th at 12:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

We NEED more leaders – more people who feel called to lead life-groups.  Please RSVP to Pam or Becki in the church office to let us know if you’ll be able to join us (479-474-6424 or, ).   We will have children’s ministry for your kids so please let us know those numbers for planning.   I hope to get us out as close to 1:30 p.m. as possible. I want to share my heart with you about our ministry groups, classes, and life-groups for the upcoming years.

Fasting and Prayer for Revival:

Our Arkansas Bishop is calling us to 40 Days of Fasting and Prayer for Revival from January 1-February 9.  There is also a nation-wide call from leaders of many denominations and ministries to a unified time of focused prayer and fasting for 21 days from January 10-31st.  Please find some way to participate.  Here are some ways you can fast:

     * Abstain from all food, observing a juice and water fast.

     * Abstain from all meats and sweets, having only vegetables and other foods. (The Daniel Fast)

     * Abstain from one meal a day.

     * Eat only six slices of Ezekiel (4:9) bread and water per day.

     * Abstain from watching TV or being on the internet for 21 days or for a segment of time, perhaps in

the evening so you can pray, read, and reflect upon these matters of prayer.

     * Abstain from all social networking OR CHOOSE YOUR OWN OPTION.

What God wants to do in our lives, families, church, community, state, and nation is so big, it will only come through prayer and fasting!  Let these be days of great hunger for the LORD and great rejoicing in His answers!

Excited for what the LORD has ahead for us this year!  Come, Lord Jesus/Yeshua!
