Pay No Attention to the Man Behind the Curtain

Posted on Apr 9, 2015 by Roger

I love the scene in the Wizard of Oz when you learn that there really is someone "behind the curtain" that is very busy making sure that life in the Land of Oz continues.

Every organization has these wizards and Heritage is no different.

Meet Steve Kelton.

Steve is our Facility Manager. Steve was hired following Wayne Weege’s retirement. Steve’s job is to ensure that our facilities and equipment are cared for and used in ways to glorify God, maximize availability, minimize costs, and ensure safety. His job includes fixing things, coordinating with contractors, and coordinating volunteers.

Steve is also a volunteer leader in our student ministry. He comes to us following a long career with the City of Fort Smith as the Traffic Manager. You may hear Steve talk about his adult son and daughter; you will definitely hear him talking about grandchildren Charli Ann, Georgia and Jack.

Meet Lisa Willis.

Lisa is our Financial Manager and was hired after Ruth Ottinger’s retirement. Lisa’s job is to ensure the ministries of Heritage are properly financed. This includes management of our $1.7 million budget, record keeping for our contributions, and payroll.

Lisa is a graduate of Van Buren High School, the University of Arkansas, and the University of Arkansas William H. Bowen School of Law in Little Rock. She joins us following a twenty-one year career with the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the US Air Force.

Lisa is happy to be home and enjoys spending time with her family. She is also a member of the Van Buren Historic Commission.

It takes a lot to keep Oz (Heritage) running. When you get the chance, tell Steve and Lisa how much you appreciate their work behind the curtain!
