To Love & To Lead: Staff Discussions

Matthew 28:19 NLT “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”

Wow, can you believe that it is already 2020? That’s crazy! 2020 is going to be a year of change, and I do not know what that looks like at this time but I know its time for a change. I don’t know about you but I just kind of feel stuck… I want to allow the Lord to work in my life this next year and change that feeling of being stuck… into GO! It is time for us to make a change and get outside the walls of the church and serve our community and make Jesus real to the people in our community that we walk by every day. Jesus replied, “You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.” (Matt 22:37-38) I think we miss the importance of the next verse right after the greatest commandment. “A second is EQUALLY important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Matt 22:39) Jesus tells us that second commandment is just as important as the first commandment. I don’t know about you but I haven’t always looked at the second commandment as equally important as the first. God has called us to love our neighbor as ourselves, but that does not only mean the people that we live next to in our neighborhoods. That means everyone… ALL people no matter what race, culture, job, religion, or status. We are called to love ALL people not just the people that we like. In 2020, I am searching out ways to further the Kingdom of God outside the walls of the church and to make Jesus real to the people in our community that are in need of a relationship with a loving Savior named Jesus. Will you join me in going outside the walls, into the community, and loving our neighbors?
