To Love & To Lead: Staff Discussions

Posted on Jul 18, 2019 by Jake Simmons, Youth Minister

As time draws near for the group of 10 to load the plane to head to Guatemala, we ask first and foremost that you begin to lift us up in prayer. We ask that you pray for safe travel, deepening of spiritual roots for adults and leaders, that we all will be able to unplug and refocus, and that we would build relationships in the community that will last a life time. I am so pumped that the Lord is allowing me to take these ten students and adults on this mission trip. The Lord has laid it on my heart to take the high school students on at least one international mission trip during the four years they will be with me. I feel a strong need to show the students that God is so much bigger than what we picture Him in the United States. I know that there are people right here in our back yard that need similar kinds of help, that is why I have this vision for our youth students. In Guatemala they will have experience making relationships and serving to the upmost of their ability. We pray and expect what they learn will spark a flame in them to do the same in the mission field here. We also believe that taking the students on an international trip will open their eyes and hearts to make them more aware of the presence of the Holy Spirit. While away, it allows for the students to unplug from everything and refocus on what matters the most. We have been waiting four long months now, and we are ready for this mission trip to begin.

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”              Matthew 25:40
