Leviticus 17:11; 14  11 For the life of the body is in its blood. I have given you the blood on the altar to purify you, making you right with the Lord. It is the blood, given in exchange for a life, that makes purification possible… 14 The life of every creature is in its blood.
Mark 14:24  24 And he said to them, “This is my blood, which confirms the covenantbetween God and His people. It is poured out as a sacrifice for many.”

Blood. What a weird thing to talk about for a blog. Lately, understanding what Jesus’ blood has done and continues to do for me has really had me thinking. In the Old Testament, we know that the Israelites had to use blood from an animal for atonement for their sins. But why? We see in Leviticus 17! The LIFE of the body is in its blood. Literally, without blood running through the body, there would be no life, or in other words, we would be dead. We understand through the Old Testament that our sin is heavy to God.

I have this picture in my mind of being in the hospital. I am sick- I am hooked up to a machine that is filtering my blood out of my body. My blood is dark and filthy. On my other arm, I have an IV with blood going in, but it doesn’t look like blood it looks like sparkling liquid snow. We all know that old hymn. “What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus… O’ precious is the flow, that makes me white as snow.” His blood cleanses me. It sustains me. It makes me whole again. Thank you, Jesus!

Because of His sacrifice, we celebrate because He overcame death for us. Let us rejoice always in remembrance that our King not only took on a humble death for us, but that he rose again to conquer death so that we could have life! How awesome!
