To Love & To Lead: Staff Discussions

I'm not a great fan of cold weather. It seems winter comes later and later each year. When I was a child in the 1960s (yikes), it seems like we had a big snow before Thanksgiving every year. Lots of years we had snow around Christmas. Now, it seems winter waits until late January to get here...and drags out through April. Ugh! I'm just ready for spring already!

Why is spring so important? It's the time of new beginnings. Grass begins to grow. Planting flowers happens after April 15th (grandfather's orders!) Tree leaves are a beautiful spring green. The squirrels start harassing my bird feeders and the hummingbirds make their first appearance. What a glorious time of the year to spend outdoors, marveling at God's handiwork. As I sit on the porch, listening to the birds, I believe they are singing praises to the Lord! (and warning of the blue jays!)

Spring brings thoughts of renewal—a relaunch of God's creation. Each year, without the help of man, the birds start building nests in my ferns in anticipation of creating a home for their babies. Just as God puts a yearning for renewal in the hearts of all of His creation, He also puts that same yearning into our hearts. I firmly believe there is a space in our heart, a void, that may only be filled through a relationship with God. Alcohol, sex, drugs, pornography, shopping—nothing—nothing else will fill that void—no matter how hard you try. Once you give your heart to Christ, ask Him to come fill your life with His presence. He will start a renewal... a RE:LAUNCH!

“Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

If you have not yet asked Jesus to come in to your heart, do so today! There are members of this congregation who would LOVE the chance to meet with you and guide you along the path of learning to be a disciple of Christ. It may not be easy...change never is. However, you will have peace, eternal security, and a church family that will walk through life with you! If you wish to visit someone about your RE:LAUNCH, contact a Heritage staff member! We will help you get started in your new life!

If you are a member or regular attender of Heritage Church, please join with me to commit your heart, life and time to revisiting your relationship with Christ. Make an effort to clean the cobwebs out of that special place in your heart: start reading your Bible each day, spend time talking with the Lord, attend church regularly, and get involved at Heritage through a Sunday School class, life group, or an outreach ministry. Get started making preparations—just as the birds in spring—for your “new babies”... the disciples that will come from your ministry efforts. If each one of us led one person to Christ this year and brought them into the Heritage family, we would double the size of our church!

Christ gave me a renewal over 50 years ago. Walking with Christ is sweeter now than ever. Is it easy? Not at all. But I know who controls everything that comes my way. Won't you join me today? RE:LAUNCH your Christian walk today!
