To Love & To Lead: Staff Discussions

Most of our children, and grandchildren, have returned to school by now and we’re all settling in to new routines.  Getting kids ready for school each morning and making sure homework is done each evening can sometimes be a daunting task.  I believe the most important routine we can have is praying with/over our children.  God’s word is filled with scripture concerning children.  One of my favorites is Proverbs 22:6; “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it”.  The study Bible I use says “Train Up” is the idea of a parent graciously investing in a child whatever wisdom, love, nurture, and discipline is needed for him to become fully committed to God.  Each child has a unique personality, gifts and aspirations.  Our responsibility as parents, and grandparents, is to invest the time in our children and grandchildren to help them become all God intended them to be.  At the same time, we have the responsibility to teach them to avoid whatever natural tendencies they might have that would prevent total commitment to God.

Our children need to know they are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God. The best way for them to learn that is to have it spoken over them routinely.

So, as you settle into a new routine, that will last for several months, don’t forget the most important part of that routine!

I pray God’s blessings for all to have the best, and most blessed, school year ever!
