To Love & To Lead: Staff Discussions

Posted on May 30, 2018 by Becki Kneeland, Welcome Minister

Over the past few months we have sang a new worship song called “Reckless Love of God”.  It is by Cory Asbury and if you have not heard it, I plead with you to listen to it and let the words speak to you.

The chorus goes something like this:

“Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending reckless love of God. Oh it chases me down, fights ‘til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine.  I couldn’t earn it.  I don’t deserve it.  Still you give yourself away.  Oh, the overwhelming, never ending, reckless love of God.”

Powerful words that come straight from scripture Matthew 18:12-14 in the parable of the lost sheep. I personally believe that this is a scripture for believers because Jesus knew how hard it was to be 100% committed to following Him. He knew there would be times we would wander.  What we have to understand is that Jesus is constantly seeking us so that He can show us how much He loves us.  Sometimes He finds us in some very unusual places.  He finds us on social media sharing our dreams, accomplishments, disappointments, and frustrations when He is secretly hoping we will share them with Him during our personal quiet time (Ouch!)  He finds us watching television filling our heads with “not so real” reality TV that make us think that the life He has provided for us is not good enough or glamorous enough (Double Ouch!) Or He finds us in our homes or places of leisure when one of His greatest desires is for us to be worshipping corporately with a body of believers in which He has placed us (OH No I didn’t just say that!).  Please hear my heart….I say these things because I am preaching to myself more than I am pointing my fingers at you.  How many times has Jesus had to look for me????? Thousands!!!! How many more times will he look for me???? INFINITY.

The best part of the song is the Bridge.

“There’s no shadow You won’t light up, Mountain You won’t climb up, coming after me.  There’s no wall You won’t kick down, No lie You won’t tear down, Coming after me!”

Brace yourself!  If you are wandering, He’s coming!
