Honoring Our Mothers

My brother, Tony, is having a great time telling people the story about my motorcycle wreck.

His favorite part is that while sitting in my emergency room bed, I realized that word about my accident was getting out on social media so I quickly texted my family to let them know I’d broken some bones and injured some joints but that I was going to be okay. I ended the text with, “DON’T TELL MOM!”

He laughs so hard that a 48-year old Army colonel and lead pastor would still be so concerned about what his mother thinks! In my defense, I simply did not want my mom to have to worry about something she already does not want me doing – riding a motorcycle! She still doesn’t know so please don’t tell her!

Our moms will always be our moms, no matter how old we get!

I’ll always be my mom’s baby boy, and I want to honor that. I want to honor her and bless her in her old age. Mother’s Day is a great opportunity to honor our moms. I won’t get to be with my mother that day, so we are going to Little Rock to visit her Thursday evening.

Whether our mothers are still alive on earth or not, we can honor them this Sunday by giving thanks for them, by remembering them, and by celebrating them for their part in giving us the gift of life. How will you bless and honor the mothers in your life this Sunday? Let’s spend some time doing that together at Heritage!

So blessed to be your lead pastor!
